During our 2024 trip, we stayed at the Hyatt owned Chicago Athletic Association https://www.chicagoathletichotel.com/.  Completed in 1893, the venetian gothic building originated as the home of a post-collegiate football team, brought together to represent the city in an annual Thanksgiving Day game against Michigan or Cornell.  Who would have guessed that such resources were put into recreational sports?!?  The Association ultimately became a comprehensive private sporting club and materials from its history have been used in interesting ways in the restoration of the building…check the walls of the elevators to find out what became of the racket ball court flooring!

Our room, a corner junior suite was spacious with good seating and a historic, sporty vibe.  Decor and lighting were fun, though a little dim.  A neat touch was the custom wool blankets, produced locally, with colors and phrases giving a nod to Association and Chicago history; a nice way to get cozy before crashing out for the night.  And in a weirdly specific shoutout…thank you to the CAA for keeping their default room temperature comfortably cool for sleeping!
